Try this - put Pink Floyd's "The Wall," The Beatles' "Magical Mystery Tour," The Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds," "Led Zeppelin IV" and EVOC's "Olde School" on your 5 CD changer and play on shuffle - or on your ipod if your CD player is sitting in the basement with your VHS video deck and Commodore 64.

I was at a party last night at my brother's house in Canada. We boiled the first corn of the season, drank whiskey sours and Moosehead beer, and barbequed burgers and bratwurst. He had the aforementioned albums in his CD player and I heard the new EVOC record for the first time surrounded by normal folks (as opposed to musicians and sound engineers) - it was thrilling to hear it alongside those records that were the soundtrack of my youth. They are more astonishing to me today than they were when they blew my mind upon first listen many years ago.

Check it out. We're very proud of this one. It's been a nutty few years - extensive touring through North and South America, Europe and Hong Kong (for a surreal World Premiere screening of "The da Vinci Code") while squeezing in sessions at various studios around the world to record this new record. I think the chemistry we developed amongst ourselves as friends and musicians were integral in setting the vibe and feel of this one. We were inspired by our favorite records from the 60's and 70's - a time when bands pushed the envelope of what rock and roll could be by using real instruments, adventurous studio techniques, and imaginations gone haywire with possibilities.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it. It feels olde school - with an "e."

Do not forget the East Village Opera Company will be performing at the Guggeinheim Bandshell at Lincoln Center in NYC to celebrate the release of their new album, Olde School. Also performing will be the Ahn Trio and Fernando Otero.

The East Village Opera Company has completely overhauled their website. Some of the new features on the site are the ability to help spread the word about shows through a show specific ecard and show specific posters and flyers. In addition, when you sign up on the main email mailing list you'll be able to download a free EVOC mp3 as a special thank you. We also have a special tour only email list that will update you anytime we add a show to the EVOC schedule. There's a new media player on the home page where you can view footage and play mp3s from the new album. In the gallery you'll see that we've added the ability for fans to submit photos which will be added to the site. As the days progress, we'll add more and more functions and content so make sure to check back. We all hope you love it spread the word!
